Prosolia Energy adds 229 MW of operational capacity in Spain, accelerating its growth as a leading IPP

  • This asset portfolio includes five operational solar parks located in Andalucía and Castilla y León, backed by PPAs signed with leading industrial clients.
  • The transaction is part of the company’s strategic plan, through which it aims to accelerate the rollout of its global business plan.

Prosolia Energy, a leading international Independent Power Producer (IPP), has completed the acquisition of a 229 MW portfolio from EDP Renováveis, comprising five operational solar parks in Spain. This transaction is part of the company’s strategic plan to accelerate its growth and strengthen its positioning as a clean energy producer specialized in providing decarbonization solutions to large industrial companies.

The parks are located in Andalucía (Huelva and Málaga) and Castilla y León (Valladolid) and have an average operating life of less than one year. In addition, they are backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed with major customers from sectors such as retail, consumer goods, and e-commerce.

The addition of these 229 MW allows Prosolia Energy to significantly strengthen its asset portfolio and move forward with the deployment of its global business plan in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, and Mexico, both in distributed generation and large-scale projects. Following this transaction, the group increases its portfolio of operational assets, expecting to reach close to 1 GW of operational assets by the end of the year.

Javier Martínez, CEO of Prosolia Energy, emphasizes: “This transaction symbolizes Prosolia Energy’s commitment to continued growth as an IPP in strategic markets and confirms our capacity to execute complex transactions in tight deadlines. The acquisition of this portfolio not only immediately reinforces our installed capacity but also enables us to support large industrial consumers in their decarbonization process with competitive and reliable solutions.”

The company is currently in a key phase of its development, accelerating its international growth through projects that combine different renewable technologies and energy storage systems (BESS). This approach allows Prosolia Energy to adapt to new market needs and guarantee its customers a competitive, stable, and sustainable energy supply.
