<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Javier Martínez, CEO, states that the company has the financial capacity and expects to deploy renewable projects totaling 350 MW this year and reach 950.<br>Prosolia is a renewable energy producer that six years ago moved from installation to the comprehensive management of projects, especially for industrial clients. Its CEO, Javier Martínez, explains to EXPANSIÓN that he expects to finish this year with one gigawatt of connected and operating capacity. Currently it has &#8220;around 600 megawatts operating between utility-scale projects—large plants—and distributed generation, and we plan to connect 350 this year.&#8221; Its projection is to reach three gigawatts in four or five years.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Prosolia Energy, a leading international Independent Power Producer (IPP), has completed the acquisition of a 229 MW portfolio from EDP Renováveis, comprising five operational solar parks in Spain. This transaction is part of the company’s strategic plan to accelerate its growth and strengthen its positioning as a clean energy producer specialized in providing decarbonization solutions to large industrial companies.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The parks are located in Andalucía (Huelva and Málaga) and Castilla y León (Valladolid) and have an average operating life of less than one year. In addition, they are backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed with major customers from sectors such as retail, consumer goods, and e-commerce.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The addition of these 229 MW allows Prosolia Energy to significantly strengthen its asset portfolio and move forward with the deployment of its global business plan in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, and Mexico, both in distributed generation and large-scale projects. Following this transaction, the group increases its portfolio of operational assets, expecting to reach close to 1 GW of operational assets by the end of the year.</p>

<li>The new agreement includes the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of eight new renewable energy facilities in Germany and France, with a total installed capacity of 120 MW.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Stellantis, a global leader in sustainable mobility, continues to place its trust in <a href="http://www.prosoliaenergy.com/es/">Prosolia Energy</a>, a vertically integrated energy producer, as its key partner for the energy decarbonization of its factories in Europe. Both companies have extended their collaboration to promote the development of new renewable energy facilities in France and Germany, enabling the supply of clean energy to Stellantis&#8217; plants through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The agreement includes eight new projects—five in France and three in Germany—with a total installed capacity of 119.6 MW, which are expected to become operational by the end of this year.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In France, the renewable energy facilities will be located at Stellantis&#8217; plants in Hordain, Mulhouse, Rennes, Sept-Fons, and Sochaux, with a total installed capacity of 109.6 MW. In Germany, the projects will be located in the company&#8217;s factories in Kaiserlautern, Russelsheim, and Bochum, with a capacity of 10 MW.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">These projects are part of the global partnership between both companies, which includes an extensive international self-consumption portfolio of approximately 200 MW to support Stellantis&#8217; Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. The group, which owns a portfolio of iconic brands such as Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Jeep or Maserati, aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Hybridization with Energy Storage Systems</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Prosolia Energy began its collaboration with Stellantis in 2020 with an initial 14 MW contract in Zaragoza, Spain, which has since expanded to include the company’s first hybrid wind-solar self-consumption project with a capacity of 58.4 MW. Additionally, at its Vigo plant, Prosolia operates the largest rooftop self-consumption system in Spain with 18.3 MW.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The energy company is committed to innovation by combining different technologies to develop more competitive and efficient hybrid projects tailored to the needs of its clients. As part of this strategy, some of the self-consumption facilities in France, such as those in Hordain and Mulhouse, as well as those in Spain, will be hybridized with battery energy storage systems (BESS) to maximize energy use through a continuous and stable 24-hour power supply.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Prosolia Energy, a vertically integrated European energy producer specialised in providing decarbonisation solutions to its clients, has successfully completed the installation of the first wind turbine at the Stellantis plant, a global leader in sustainable mobility, located in Figueruelas, Zaragoza. This marks the realisation of the company’s first wind-solar hybrid self-consumption park, positioning this Stellantis facility as the Spanish automotive plant with the largest contribution of clean energy for self-consumption.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>A pioneering project for the industrial energy transition</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The installation of this first wind turbine makes the plant a benchmark for innovation, self-consumption and energy sustainability, consolidating Stellantis’ commitment to the strategy of its Dare Forward 2030 plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When it comes into operation, expected by the end of this year, the new 6.9 MW wind turbine, manufactured by Nordex Group—an wind turbine manufacturer with participation from the Spanish group Acciona—will enable the automotive plant to reach an estimated net annual production of 20,916 MWh. The turbine features a three-blade rotor with a diameter of 163 metres and a hub height of 98 metres.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is the first of four wind turbines that Prosolia Energy will install in different phases at the Figueruelas facility, where a self-consumption photovoltaic plant is already in operation. The hybrid project as a whole will eventually generate electricity with up to 30.8 MW of solar capacity and 27.6 MW of wind capacity, making it possible to avoid the emission of 14,800 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to planting 189,000 trees.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As an Independent Power Producer (IPP), Prosolia Energy will provide, through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), enough electricity to cover up to 80% of the electrical needs of the Stellantis Zaragoza plant. Thanks to hybridisation, the full potential of wind and solar energy is harnessed to maximise the use of renewable resources, ensuring a sustainable, stable and efficient power supply for the plant’s operations 24 hours a day.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Juan Reinón, Director of Distributed Generation at Prosolia Energy, stated: “Completing this emblematic project, which combines different generation technologies, demonstrates Prosolia’s commitment to its clients, as well as our ability to support industry in its decarbonisation processes by providing 100% customised and competitive energy solutions.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He added: “This achievement strengthens Prosolia Energy’s positioning as a strategic partner in the energy transition, offering energy solutions that not only meet clients’ needs but also ensure cost reduction and predictability through innovative PPAs, actively contributing to progress towards a more sustainable future.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Susana Remacha, Director of the Stellantis Zaragoza plant, also expressed her satisfaction with this renewable energy hybridisation project, stating that “the two most competitive renewable energy technologies currently available, solar and wind, will allow the Stellantis Zaragoza plant to continue moving full speed ahead in its commitment to the environment and the reduction of carbon emissions. It is a source of pride to take advantage of the natural resources our land offers.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Zaragoza plant is certified according to the demanding ISO 14001 (since 1999) and ISO 50001 (since 2012) standards and is progressing towards the sustainable efficiency “Green Factory” model. In addition, it has been EMAS-certified for more than 20 years and has received numerous awards for its environmental management.</p>
