Implementing a large-scale sustainable energy strategy to drastically reduce operating costs and the carbon footprint of aquaculture. The goal was to maximize energy self-sufficiency by utilizing all available space (rooftop and ground-mount).
The 4.7 MWp solar plant generates thousands of MWh annually, achieving significant savings: a 10.5% net saving for the rooftop installation and 27.1% for the ground-mount system. This drastically reduces dependence on the power grid.
The project offsets 3,508 tonnes of CO₂ annually—equivalent to planting 21,750 trees. This positions Flatlantic as an absolute benchmark in sustainable aquaculture and environmental responsibility at a European level.
Prosolia Energy developed and installed two UPACs (Production Units for Self-Consumption) with a total capacity of 4.7 MWp, combining industrial rooftop and ground-mount installations. The system integrates 8,714 photovoltaic modules to maximize production.
